Kevin Dewayne Thomas

On February 1, 1966, a bouncing baby boy was born to Gloria & E.W. Thomas, Jr. in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They named their bundle of joy Kevin DeWayne Thomas. A beloved husband, son and father of four, Kevin moved to Tulsa Oklahoma in 1968 with his mom and Dad. He attended Cherokee Elementary School, Academy Central and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, Kevin, or “KT,” attended the University of Oklahoma and Tulsa Junior College. Kevin was on the Dean's Honor roll at Tulsa Junior College. Kevin took time from school to work and pursue other career opportunities. Kevin went on to work for Tulsa Junior College, Kinko's, and finally Hireright where he was an employee since 2007.

On May 14, 1994, Kevin married his wife of 19 years, Carla Michelle Devereaux. They were blessed with 4 children: Kevin II, Devin, Faith and Sydney. Kevin, a devoted family man, spent weekends playing at the park, playing board & video games and enjoying movie nights. Once the children were older, Kevin designated Friday nights as "date night.”

Kevin loved sports, especially football. He spent many Saturdays watching college football or going to Union cheer and pom games and competitions. Something people may not realize about Kevin was that he was a self-taught computer technician. He had never received formal training. He would purchase huge computer books from his favorite Barnes and Noble store and tinker with a computer until he figured it out. The books along with various computer pieces could be found throughout the house and cars. He loved news, music, and documentaries. He often convinced Carla to watch and listen to them too! He was also a collector. His most recent prize collections included figures from the hit TV show Walking Dead, coins, and comic books. Kevin was well known in the Tulsa gaming stores. He would often come home and share a story of how he found some figure or game for an awesome price. He even started a game day at work during his lunch hour. Kevin never met a stranger. He made friends everywhere he went. His children once made a game of seeing how long it would take before their dad ran into someone he knew. KT had a story for everything. He would often tell Memphis stories (our Jack Russell Terrier Yorkey mix) stories which were also known as Memphis tales. His favorite began with "I woke up one morning and I felt a nuzzle on my neck, I thought baby (Carla) is feeling frisky this morning. Then I reached out and felt fur. I turned around and realized Memphis had crawled in the bed in Carla's spot." If you know Kevin, you can imagine what was said next. Kevin was preceded in death by his father E.W. Thomas, Jr., and sister Jacinda Thomas. Kevin is survived by his mother Gloria Thomas (Tulsa), his wife Carla, children: Kevin II, Devin, Faith, Sydney and dog Memphis, siblings: Kelicia Thomas (Tulsa), Brian Thomas (Tulsa), Calvin Thomas (Tulsa) and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.

Services for Mr. Kevin Thomas will be Saturday November 9, 2013 at 11AM at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Friends may visit Mr. Thomas on Friday from 12Noon until 7PM in Tulsa.
