Mrs. Abbie Whittaker, wife of Lonnie Whittaker, and a resident of Okmulgee, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.

"Her" Story

On January 31, 1940 a bundle of joy was delivered to Henry and Bertha Higgs in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Their bundle of joy was a precious baby girl. She was named Abbie Marie. She attended school in Yazoo Elementary School and St. Francis High School. She also attended Pioneer College in Kansas City, Missouri. Abbie also realized the importance of a personal relationship with God at an early age.

Abbie met and married Lonnie Whittaker on June 14, 1994. After 70 seasons here with us, Mrs. Abbie Marie Whittaker surrendered her soul to Jesus on Tuesday afternoon, September 7, 2010. Remaining to lament her passing: her faithful husband, Lonnie Whittaker, Okmulgee, OK., her children: Kenneth Jones (Patricia), Kansas City, MO., Keith Jones, Kansas City, MO., Karla Richardson, Atlanta, GA., a step-daughter: Shundrekia Monnee, (Garrett), McKinley, TX., her grandchildren: Antoine Jones, Garrett Lindsay, Sidnie and McKinzi Jones, and a great-granddaughter, Amelia Jones.

Services for Mrs. Whittaker will be Friday September 17, 2010 at 11AM at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Friends may visit her in Okmulgee on Thursday from 12Noon to 6PM.
