On April 28, 2009, Adam Stallings, Jr., went home to be with his Lord. Adam was born on November 5, 1943 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Adam Stallings, Sr., and Leontine [Jeffery] Stallings. The family moved to Boynton, Oklahoma where he attended Eram School.
In 1961, the family moved to Okmulgee, where he met the love of his life, Joyce Simon. On August 12, 1966, Adam and Joyce were married in Wichita, Kansas, where they resided until 1967, at which time Adam enlisted in the United States Marines. He served his country honorably for 13 months during the Vietnam War. He received his honorable discharge on August 20, 1971 as a Seargent B-5.
The family then moved to Los Angeles, California, where Adam worked for Sears & Roebuck for many years. Adam and Joyce opened their own business, A. & J. Janitorial Service from 1975 until 1989.
Mr. Stallings was called by God into the ministry and was ordained as Minister Adam Stallings, Jr., in 1987 by Pastor Fannie Wright, Co-Founder of Alpha and Omega Pentecostal Church in Los Angeles. In 1991, the family moved to Okmulgee, where Adam and Joyce co-pastored the Spirit and Truth Pentecostal Church.
Minister Stallings was preceded in death by his parents.
Those that wait on the Lord; his devoted and loving wife, Joyce Stallings, who was constantly by his side; his sons, Adam Barker and wife Carolyn, Okmulgee, and Justin Stallings and wife Polly, Okmulgee; his daughters, Joyce Barker, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Donna Wilson and husband Bernard, Okmulgee, and Vicki Barker, Okmulgee; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Luther Stallings Sr. and wife Marva, Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Burch Stallings and wife Trinidad, Leesville, Louisiana; his sisters, Linda Wilson and husband Paul, Dallas, Texas, Mary Stallings and husband, Charles Talton, Jr., Okmulgee, Oklahoma; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The Celebration will be on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:30 PM in the St. Mary's Christian Center. Elder Jackie Jones, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God in Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Okmulgee.
