Adrian Jamell Warrior

"AJ"

His Story

On July 18, 1987, a bouncing baby boy was born to Delores Warrior and Anthony Jones, Sr. in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  They named their bundle of joy Adrian Jamell Warrior, affectionately referring to him as AJ.

AJ was a very happy boy who became a man that loved life and his family and friends. AJ lived over half of his life in Muskogee before moving to Tulsa to be near his immediate family. As a young boy, he was happy, he excelled in math and was full of energy and laughter. He accepted Jesus as his Savior during his time at Warner Mountain Church of God, under the leadership of Rev. Wayne Beshears. As AJ's spiritual life developed, he became a member of Old Agency Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. H. and Marlene Jones, where he created many lifelong friendships and lasting memories.

For a period of time, AJ, like most of us, had challenges. At times he lived hard and endured the difficulties of this life, but he always, fought tooth and nail to find the grace and faith to overcome every circumstance and turned them into opportunities. More importantly he loved hard. His life was filled with love and loyalty for family and friends. He cherished family get-togethers. Birthdays and holidays were always a very special time in the Warrior household. He also enjoyed making music and beats on his computer.

AJ completed his education, then started his career as a laborer which relocated him to Tulsa, Oklahoma. While in Tulsa for the past 12 years, AJ was blessed to have two sons; K'drian and Aaro. Family was very important to AJ and he wanted his children to know that he was proud to be their dad and always made time to show them.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gwendolyn Jones. He is lovingly survived by his two children; K'drian Warrior (mother-Shelley Grant) and Aaro Warrior (mother-Megan Monroe); parents Delores Warrior-Webb (Toby Webb) and Anthony Jones, Sr. (Paula Jones); siblings, Marvin Ledbetter, Jr., Nastocia Johnson, Contessa Wright, Manaya Jones, Anthony Jones, Jr., and Jessica Jones; grandparents Ceazer and Eunice Warrior; great-grandmother Viola Woodfork-Ross; uncles Alex Warrior (Katherine) and Jonathan Warrior (Jennifer); aunts Viola Warrior and Courtney Pouncil (Kevin); great-uncles, great-aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins; special family members Destiny Dunkley (girlfriend), Marvin Ledbetter, Sr., Dorothy Ledbetter, Wanda Ledbetter, and Roscoe Baldwin.
