Mr. Alex Louis Kallay, after 94 Chapters of Life, closed his eyes for the last time on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from the Jack C. Montgomery Regional Veterans Administration Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Cleveland, Ohio is where the life of Alex Louis Kallay began, arriving on February 25, 1925 as the son of Hungarian immigrants Louis and Elizabeth Kallay to eventually become the "Waltz King" of Cleveland on roller skates at the age of 16.
At age 17, he joined the War effort, where he enlisted in the United States Army as a combat medic with the tank Destroyers of the 9th Armored "Phantom Division."
Alex was part of the first contingent of American Soldiers to cross the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen over the Rhine into mainland Germany.
After his honorable service, Mr. Kallay became a successful real estate developer in the Texas real estate market. He also spent many recreational hours teaching and sharing his passion for the mountains with his children.
He leaves to cherish his memory; three children, Alexia Caster, Melissa Cypert and Edward Kallay; thirteen grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Mr. Kallay was a hero to his family, friends and his Country and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service with Military Honors is pending at this time.
