Obituary

Mr. Alexander "Bo" Springs, retired Educator and legendary Coach of Moton High School in Taft, Oklahoma, "Entered the Heavenly Hall of Fame" on Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Alexander "Ja(BO)" Springs was born on March 28, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he lived until his 10th grade year. He then moved to Taft, Oklahoma, where he attended and graduated from Moton Public School in 1955.

He went on to attend and graduate from Langston University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education in 1959. While on the "Yard" at Langston University, he pledged his membership into the Fraternity of Kappa Alpha Psi in 1957. He became a life member in 1979.

While teaching and coaching for 37 years, he earned many accolades. From bolstering a record of 422 wins and only 174 losses, he was honored to coach the small East All-State Basketball team, while also being inducted into 3 Hall of Fames.

Bo was known for his quick wit and his ability to coach. Words were Springs' tool. He weaved them like a jazz musician, turning everyday anecdotes into musical phrases, punctuated with homespun shouts and sprinkled heavily with laughs(Mike Koehler).

"Jabo", one of his many nicknames, loved people, and never met a stranger. Almost everyone he met received a nickname sticking with them for life.

"Jabo" leaves to celebrate his life his wife of 49 years Patricia, three children Romell, LaShon and Patricia(Lil Pat), three foster children Walter "Tom" Thompson, Yavette(TC) Johnson and Vincent Murray.

A Husband, Father, Teacher, Coach, Principal, Superintendent & Hall of Famer!
