Alice P. Adams was born a precious jewel to Terner and Jemima Gilmore Patterson on August 15, 1920 in Mounds, Oklahoma. Alice was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Langston University, Oklahoma City University, and Oklahoma University, receiving her Master's Degree. She was a member of Mr. Herman Baptist Church in Bristow, Oklahoma. Alice enjoyed horseback riding, sewing, cooking, community service, her church, as well as interacting with her grandchildren, or the "youngsters" as she should would say.
Professionally, Mrs. Adams worked as a Program Director for the McFarland Branch YWCA in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She also worked as a substitute teacher for the Oklahoma City Public Schools, worked for SunBeam Family Services, and retired as the Clinical Director for the Harbinger Corporation. While attending Booker T. Washington High School, she met the love of her life, Mr. Cornelius Adams. The couple remained married for 69 years.
On October 17, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma in her 91st season, Mrs. Alice P. Adams finished Her Earthly Course. Remaining to cherish her precious memories: her devoted husband, Cornelius Adams, one son, Jaun W. Adams, both of Bristow, OK., six grandchildren: Shon Lane, Oklahoma City, OK., Eboni Adams, Jaun C. Adams, Taneshia Adams, and Amber Adams, Wichita, KS., and Timothy Adams, Tulsa, OK., six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with a host of other friends and relatives.
Services for Mrs. Adams will be Friday October 21, 2011 at 11AM inside our All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa. Internment will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
