On April 27, 1931 a beautiful baby girl was born to James and Josie "Babe" Richardson of Coweta, Ok. She was named Alice Roberta. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1951. She married Leroy Young, a Navy serviceman in 1956. This gave her the opportunity to travel around the country, living in Key west, FL and Norfolk, VA before returning home to Okmulgee. Alice later attended Oklahoma State Technical School receiving an Associates degree in car and furniture upholstery. She spent many years working in this field.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister Lula Mae Littlejohn, and a brother James Richardson Jr.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Willie Richardson (Lawton) and Johnny Young (Tulsa) and a daughter Sharon Gordon (New Albany, IN); a beloved sister Bertha "Bootsie" Richardson (Okmulgee); numerous nieces and nephwews including Earnest Richardson whom she helped to raise; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.
Alice Young transitioned into Eternal Rest on April 23, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her services will be Thursday April 28, 2011 at 11AM at the 3rd Street Church of Christ in Okmulgee. Visitation will be Wednesday in Okmulgee from 12Noon to 6PM.
