IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alicia Olivia
Sourie
September 10, 1964 – July 26, 2022
A Queen's Story
On September 10, 1964, a Queen entered her royal court being born to Jewell Joyce Curl and Sidney Craig in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Alicia was such a shining star and an energetic child displaying a strength to take charge and help others that continued throughout her adult life. As she reigned supreme during her youth she flourished into a beautiful Queen, as she graced the halls of the Moton School System from elementary to high school, graduating with the Class of 1982.
Alicia married Benjamin Sourie and started her legacy. Her royal court began to grow as this union was blessed with twins Jaronda and Javon. The Court continued to expand with more royalty, the birth of Robyne, Benjamin Jr., and Jerrell. More expansion came when her grandchildren were added to this Kingdom. Her children were her crown, and her grandchildren were the jewels. she adored each of them, with every beat of heart. Alicia although a Queen was a lover of people who had a servant's heart. She would give you the shoes off her table and the clothes off her feet (inside family joke). No matter what needed to be done or who needed her assistance, she was ready and willing.
Throughout this Queen's reign she also served in many capacities throughout her career where she forged many lifelong friendships. Queen Alicia was a boss of all trades and mastered them all. Everyone that she met she impacted with her infectious humor and majestic charm.
Alicia was drawn to serve the Lord at an early age where she joined First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Woodrow McBride. Alicia later joined New Life Ministries under the leadership of her Brother-Daddy Pastor Michael Gaulden Sr. She was a devoted member and held many offices at the Church. Everything she put her hands to do was done in excellence. Alicia loved serving in church as well as her community. She loved the city of Taft, and this was displayed through her work in which she would cook for the community, clean for those who needed the help, checked on the elders of the community and took care of the sick and shut-in, and also worked with the youth. Although Queen Alicia loved her earthly Kingdom she was summoned by the King of Kings and the Lord of Lord to reign with God in the Eternal Kingdom.
Ms. Alicia Olivia Sourie, in her 57th season of life, "dozed into peaceful rest" on Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 2022 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
