Alma Jean Hill
December 17, 1944 - August 5, 2008
"Reflections"
On December 17, 1944, a precious gift was given to Frank James and Etha Mae Stevenson in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Their gift was a precious baby girl. They named her Alma Jean. She attended Banneker Elementary School and graduated from the historic Dunbar High School with the proud class of 1963. Alma developed friendships as a young child that continued throughout her life.
Alma was a well known homemaker, specializing in ironing for many people who chose her services as oppose to a public cleaner. Despite her very active life and numerous demands, she was a very loving wife and caring mother. She loved fishing with her husband and grandmother. Anyone who ever met her will remember her sense of humor, contagious laughter, warm smile, and a friendly nature that never allowed her to meet a stranger. Her wish is for you not to mourn, but to celebrate her life, and rejoice in her homegoing.
Alma's parents, husband, seven brothers, and five sisters preceded her in death. Remaining to cherish her precious memories: her only son, Darrell Wayne and Rhonda Smith Turner, Okmulgee, OK., a loving god-daughter, Brenda Fisher Lewis, Mounds, OK., one sister, Callie Mae James, Oklahoma City, OK., two brothers: James "Jimmy" Brooks, Okmulgee, OK., Andrew James, Oklahoma City, OK., one niece, Patricia Harris and Frank Jones, a very special friend, Ruth White, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other friends.
"The days of our years are threescore years and ten, and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is there strength, labor, and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away."
Services will be Thursday August 14, 2008 at 11AM inside the Chapel in Okmulgee. Friends may visit her as she rests peacefully on Wednesday from 12Noon to 6PM.
