Obituary

Alma Joyce Trout Maxie, a faithful servant of the Lord, was called home on March 15, 2015. Alma was born in Haskell, Okla. from the union of Mr. Everett W. and Mrs. Maggie Littlejohn Trout, along with her twin sister on March 23, 1935.

Her mother passed away when she was only 2 years old, and her father later married Miss Elizabeth Hickman ("Little Mother"), who was one of the most dedicated, loving, hardworking, and encouraging people one could ever meet. As her grandchildren were born, she discovered that the love she had for her husband, children and their spouses, and grandchildren filled her heart with so much love that she could not contain it. She talked about them to anyone who would listen.

Alma's passion for imparting knowledge to children of all ages shone through in her work in Oklahoma public schools for 36 years, her teaching Sunday school classes for 19 years, and working in the youth department at Greater Union Baptist Church for many years.

Alma was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church in Haskell, Okla. and became an active member of a church in each location of residence as an adult. She was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church from 1966 through 2015, and was actively involved in many areas of the church. She was also a longtime devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
