Mrs. Altha M. Dorn, in her 85th year, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

It all began on January 18, 1933 in Eufaula, Oklahoma, when a beautiful, bouncing, baby girl was born ot James Martin and Dallas West.  They decided to name this precious daughter Altha Martin.

Altha grew up in Eufaula, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school and later  attended college at Langston University.  After graduating from Langston University, she moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where she taught school and married Alfred Dorn.  This union was bless with two boys;  Kenneth Wayne and James Alfred.  After some years went by, this marriage was later dissolved.

Altha taught school in Caffe, Oklahoma and she would later move to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she began her teaching career for Muskogee Public Schools.  She taught at Dunbar Elementary, Jefferson Elementary and Whittier Elementary schools.  She also taught GED classes and her subject she taught was Government.  Mrs. Dorn furthered her education by going back to school and earning her Master's Degree  from Central State University, [now UCO] in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Anyone who knew Altha knew that her favorite hobby was working out in her yard.  She loved flowers and her yard would always show the beauty of her work.

She joined the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed working with Vacation Bible School and singing in the Choir.  Altha was also a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Organization.

Mrs. Dorn's family was her life.  She was so excited when she was blessed with grandchildren.  After she retired from teaching, she kept her grandson, James Dorn, II, until he was able to go to school.  She looked forward to picking him up everyday from school, where she would bring him home and make him very good snacks to eat.  She enjoyed shopping and would pick up her granddaugher, Jameica Dorn Seay and they would shop for hours before coming home and showing off all they had bought.

In later years, she was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Kaleese Seay and she was the apple of her eyes.  She enjoyed when Kaleese came to visit.  She would always have gifts for her and she enjoyed listening to Kaleese play the Organ and Piano and would join in and play with her.

Those loving family members who were waiting on her at Heaven's gate were; her parents, brother, uncles and aunts.

She leaves in God's care to cherish her memory;  her sons,  Kenneth Dorn and James Dorn, Sr. [Beverly];  her grandchildren, Jamecia Dorn Seay and James Dorn, II;  her great-grandchildren, Kaleese MaeElla Sean and Kerry Titus Seay;  a special cousin, Marie Smith;  her loving caregiver, MureLisa Titsworth;  two very special friends, Mary Wynn and Virginia Schoats;  as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her sacred farewell will commence on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 622 North J. A. Reed, Sr., Boulevard in Muskogee.  Her Pastor, Reverend Gary Hall, Sr., will officiate.  The Christian committal will follow the ceremony in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery.

You may visit Mrs. Dorn, as she slumbers in sweet repose on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  Her lovely Soror's of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., will conduct their memorial ceremony beginning at 5:00 PM at the Church.  The public is welcome to attended.
