Obituary

Alvin "Biscuit" Brown was the first born from the union of Onovalla Lee and McKinley Brown on April 6, 1935 in Yahola, Oklahoma. He received his education from Moton Schools in Taft. While at Moton, he loved sports and was very good in Basketball. He graduated with the Class of 1955.

After graduation, he began his military career with the Air Force. During the transition of his military career, he married his high school sweetheart, Symantha Murrell, who was fondly known as "Sweetnin." Their loving union was blessed with eight children.

Upon completion of his enlistment, Alvin entered the United States Army. After completion of his active duty, he began his civilian career with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, later transferring to Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center in Muskogee.

Mr. Brown served as mayor of Taft, Oklahoma for two years, during those times before his retirement in 1997. Restlessness brought him back into the workforce, where he was employed with the Indian Capital Technology Center before his last retirement in 2012.

Alvin was a lifelong member Flipper Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Taft, Oklahoma, where he served the Lord untiringly until his health began to fail. He served as Chairman of the Trustee board for many years and as President of the "Sons of Allen." He also served on the kitchen committee as overseer and his church family always looked forward to his New YEar's black eye pea dinner and his cornbread. "Biscuit" will always be remembere4d for his famous, mouthwatering Bar-B-Q and his "witty" sayings. He loved life an dlived it to the fullest.

After 81 years with us on Earth, Alvin "Biscuit" Brown, closed his eyes here, but woke up in "Glory" on Friday, September 9, 2016 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Billy Crutchfield and Leroy Titsworth, and a sister, Helen Titsworth.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted wife of 54 years, Symantha; his children, Patricia Newton, Taft, Oklahoma, Rodney [Sandra] Brown, Wichita, Kansas, Marshall Parker, Wichita, Kansas, Julius [Valarie], Wichita, Kansas, Alvinetta Brown, Taft, Oklahoma, Devaughn Brown, Wichita, Kansas, Marlon Brown, Taft, Oklahoma, Andre [Twila] Brown, Fort Worth, Texas and a special son, Alvin Demby, Wichita, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Gerldine Allen, Ruth [Robert] Moore, Wytova [Doyle] Clayton, Gloria [Fred] Thomas, and Shelia [Willie] Boykins; his brothers, Willie [Hester] Titsworth, Tim [Lisa] Titsworth, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Stanley [Tequila] Titsworth, Taft, Oklahoma; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

The Hour of Remembrance will be shared on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Timothy Baptist Church. Pastor Kelly Payne is the gracious host and Reverend Samuel Craig, Pastor of Flipper Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Taft, will officiate.

The final salute will be on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson.
