It all began on February 7, 1938, when Hunter Mixon, Sr., and Della Ann [Williamson] Mixon celebrated the birth of a son, Alvin Wayne Mixon in Stroud, Oklahoma. Better known as "Moon" to family and friends, he was the first of eight children born from this union.
Alvin received his education from the South Stroud Public School system. After reaching manhood, he was employed with Littert Brothers Construction Company for over 20 years until his retirement. Alvin united with the St. Matthew Primitive Church in Oklahoma City and was a member at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Helen Cozetta Davis and five children were born from this union.
After "Four-Score" years with us, Alvin Wayne Mixon, Sr., left this life for a life eternal from Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; two children, Alvin Wayne Mixon, Jr., and Vanessa Daniels; two brothers, Orville Dean Mixon and James Floyd Mixon; two sisters, Levonne Davis and Doris Annette Mixon.
He leaves to lament his passing; his sons, Stevie Mixon, Prague, Oklahoma, Marvin Mixon[ Alisha], Texarkansas, Arkansas; his daughter, Pamela Mixon Carlis [ Rev. Stanley ], Rentiesville, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Sandra Dillard [Ricky] Stroud, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Hunter Mixon, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Shirley Goodman [ Lindell ], Midwest City, Oklahoma and Jeanell Britton, McKinney, Texas; one aunt, Mildred Coleman; a sister-in-law, Veronica Mixon; a brother-in-law, David Daniels; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Mixon will commence on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Jesus First Baptist Church of Stroud, Oklahoma. Pastor R. D. Jacobs, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Golden Valley Cemetery in Stroud.
