Obituary

Alvin Vernon Riley, Jr., was born in Rogers County Oklahoma to Ada (Berry) Griggs and Alvin Vernon Riley, Sr., August 5, 1943.  He served in the U. S. Army from 1962 to 1965.  After serving in the U. S. Army, Alvin worked in various occupations until landing at the U. S. Postal Service in 1977.  He retired from the Postal Service in 2011, after 33 years due to his health. You can find him most days after retirement driving around town spending time with friends and family. Alvin was a happy and positive person with a kind spirit, who aimed to influence people with the word of God. Alvin was a jokester who loved fishing, music, and debating any subject from the Bible to politics.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Alvena Henderson and Barbara Turner, daughter Melissa Riley, and grandson DeAngelo Smith. He is survived by siblings Beverly Cannon (Sylvester) of Kansas City, KS, Pearly Carney, Erma Carroll, and Charlotte Griggs of Tulsa, OK, Ora Jones of Upper Marlboro, MD, Roscoe Griggs (Rita) of Broken Arrow, OK, Alesia Griggs of Denton, TX, and Mike Griggs of Moore, OK; two former wives; seven daughters; twenty grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


Graveside Services for Mr. Riley will commence on August 30, 2018 at the Tenth hour on the sacred grounds of Crown Hill Cemetery.
