Mr. Alvin Osborne, Sr., age 57 and a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away in Tulsa on Sunday morning, April 30, 2006 in St. Francis Hospital.
The service of Memory will be on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at The House of Gethsemane Church, 6709 K East 81st. Burial will follow in Rolling Oaks Cemetery in Tulsa.
Visitation on Thursday from 12 Noon until 7 PM at the funeral home.
Alvin was born on August 30, 1948 to Jake and Letha Osborne [Hemphill] in Alsuma, Oklahoma. He was the baby of 8 children. He was a delight to his family and friends.
Alvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Alsuma Baptist Church by Reverend A. A. Bolton.
Alvin attended Union Public Schools and later transfered and graduated from Booker T. Washington high school in 1967. He was a great athlete in school and excelled in football and basketball.
At the age of 18, he was drafted into the U. S. Army, where he served honorably. He attended Tulsa Junior College, majoring in Criminal Justice.
He Coached the Tulsa Express AAU basketball team and the Hamilton MS football team.
Alvin was empolyed for 18 years at McDonnell Douglas as a carpenter and metal bonder. He later answered his call into the ministry in 1983 under the pastorate of Elder C. E. Williams, Pastor of Bethlehem Church of God in Christ in Sands Springs.
He later joined the Household of Gethsemane Church of Pastors Sally and Keith Chaney in Tulsa.
