Alvin Michael Verner was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the loving union of Augusta Lee Verner and Ellabell Biglow Verner on March 18, 1930. Nicknamed "Mike" Alvin attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School and Carver Junior High School and Booker T. Washington High School graduating with the class of 1950. He then attended Grambling College in Ruston, Louisiana. Alvin served in the U.S. Army 29th Infantry for seven years from 1951 to 1957. Alvin was a Mason of the 236 Lodge, a member of Vernon A.M.E. Church for 60 years and also attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Alvin was employed by the City of Tulsa Parks Department for 1 year, Spartans Aircraft for 3 years Flint Steel for 1 year, and for the Government Maintenance of California 25 years. Alvin also was employed with Fred Jones Lincoln Mercury for 7 years.
Alvin was married to Betty Lou Young from September 1953 to December 1953, Barbara Jean Paul from January 1954 to May 1954, Anna Lou Muck from 1954 to 1972, May Green from 1962 to 1975, Juanita Shaw from 1975 to 1976, Evelyn Stanley from 1978-1979, and Betty Mays from March 1994-March 2005 for 10 years before her death.

Verner Jr, Los Angeles, CA, Ricky Maurice Verner, Los Angeles, CA, Weldon Verner, Los Angeles, CA, daughters: Patricia Brown, Los Angeles, CA, three daughters: Patricia Brown, Los Angeles, CA, Wanda Faye Brown, Los Angeles, CA, Rose Mary, Monterey, CA, Katie Brison, Tulsa, OK, step-sons: Dexter Brison, Seaside, CA, Larry Brison, Seaside, CA, Darnell Brison, Seaside, CA, Marion Jones, Tulsa, OK, Jody Mays, Tulsa, OK, Kendrick Baglee, Tulsa, OK, and Robert Goreed (deceased), step-daughters: Sylvia Ann Mays, Tulsa, OK, April Mays-Goreed, Tulsa, OK, Samara Jones-Mays, Tulsa, OK, Tierra Jones-Mays, Tulsa, OK, step-grandsons: London Mays, Tulsa, OK, and Dareus Mays, Tulsa, OK, step-granddaughters: Shondale Fowlkes, Tulsa, Shaire, Mays, Tulsa, OK, Keshal Mays, Andrie Mays, Markel Mays-Freedman, Tulsa, OK. He is also survived by one sister Betrice Scott, nephew Andrew Verner, Tulsa, OK, nieces Camela Baker and LaTonya Walker and caregiver Lorna Doyle, Tulsa, OK, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death along with brothers August Lee Verner, Jr., Carey Verner, Roscoe Verner, Calvin Verner, Oren Verner, and Jerry Verner, sisters: Flossy Palmer-Verner, Lonnie D. Harris, Correllia Davis Farley, Marie LeBlanc-Verner, Horsens Boone-Verner, and Mary Alice Hill-Verner.
Services for Mr. Alvin Verner, 84, Friday August 15, 2014 at 10AM in the All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa.
