Andrew Hortman was born on April 4, 1949 to Leon and Rosia [Tyler]] Hortman, Sr., in Tallulah, Louisian. To this union there were nine children. Shortly after his birth, at the age of 3 months, he traveled with his parents and two siblings to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

While still at an impressionable age, Andrew accepted God at an early age and was a member of Bethesda COGIC in Milwaukee, where he attended with his family. Andrew attended Milwaukee Public Schools,  and graduated from Rufus King High School. He continued his education at Concordia College in Milwaukee.

Mr. Hortman served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp in 1969.

Andrew was blessed with a daughter, Monique, to whom he referred to as the most beautiful girl in the world. Andrew was previously married and  he had a son named Craig Hortman. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1988, but Andrew never abandoned his roots. He returned to Milwaukee often.

Andrew loved fishing and hunting with his father, grandfather, uncles and nephews, enjoyed participating in Milwaukee summer baseball leagues, coached baseball, softball and volleyball, mentored youth in Milwaukee and Oklahoma, organized family gatherings-participating as the "Master Cook" and assisted in organizing social clubs and many bus trips, as well as enjoying playing cards with family and friends.  He had begun to enjoy attending church services throughout the Beggs, Okmulgee and Bristow areas in Oklahoma.

Andrew was the #1 Green Bay Packers fan. He was an avid Packers supporter and always cheered for his team.
