"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith!"

On December 11, 1926, a baby boy was born to Garfield and Betsey Vann. They named him Andy Clark Vann. He was affectionately known to everyone as "A.C."

A.C. had 8 siblings and on August 13, 2019 he grew his wings and joined them in God's most sacred place, Heaven!

A.C. married the Love of His Life, Lurene Smith on September 25, 1970. The two made their home in Muskogee, OK at 609 N. 12th Street.  Mr. Vann was a hard working man. He provided for his family by working at the V.A. Hospital in Muskogee, OK for 32 years, the Muskogee Country Club for 25 years and Elks Lodge for 15 years. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he humbly served God and the church for over 40 years.

Before television made being a Chef famous, A.C. was known throughout the community for making delicious meals.  He was often called upon to cook for special occasions and he never turned down the opportunity to make good food for friends, family and the community.

A.C. was well known for making brisket, ribs, greens and don't forget about that peach cobbler.  Oftentimes, family would mention that peach cobbler and the next thing you heard were the pots and pans stirring in the kitchen.  A.C. loved feeding the masses and when family came over to visit or if family was coming in from out of town he'd make so much food that you'd have enough to take home to feed your individual families for a week.  No request was ever too much for A.C., the "Master Chef".   He'd often say, if this isn't enough, I will cook some more.

Mr. Vann loved his family, especially those grand kids.  Elvin and Corance spent a lot of time growing up with Grandpa, A.C.  He would pile those grand kids, I mean all the kids in that van or that blue truck and they would be gone all day only to come back worn out and filled with excitement from spending time with their grandfather.  A.C. also liked taking his family for rides to the country and out to Four Mile Branch, where he was raised.

Mr. Vann was a man that never wavered. He meant what he said, and said what he meant. Never to be caught off guard because he stayed on on point.

Those left to cherish the memory of A.C. are the Love of his Life, Lurene Vann of 48 years. His children: Andy Vann Jr, Ora Mae Vann, Annetta L. Vann, Lonzo C. Vann, Clarence Vann (Rhea D.), and Almmeta Jones (Lawrence). Children he helped raise, Angela R. Graham, Tonya R. Coleman (Davy, Sr.,), and Tracy E. Ledbetter (Steve). Grandchildren: Elvin L. Bell, Corance D. Chandler, Gregory L. Vann, Alicia L. Vann, Johnathan D. Vann, Steven D. Vann, Orenna M. Candies, Wauneta L. Vann, Darrin Jones, Dehran Jones, LaShawnna Camp, Jasymne Clark, Krista McKnight, DaiDrian T. Brown, Davy T. Coleman, II, Taja R. Coleman, ShaTara S. Smith, LaTia R. Smith, Steve D. Smith, D'Ron D. Smith, Jyrelle D. Smith, and T'aira R. Smith. Along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
