Obituary

As the seasons changed from summer to fall, on September 24th, 1963, a beautiful, baby girl was born to the union of Evelyn and Walter Armstrong in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They named her Ann and she was affectionately known as "Miss Ann."

In her early childhood, she attended Tulsa public schools. She later moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she attended Alice Robertson Junior High and Muskogee High School, graduating with the Class of 1981.

At an early age, Ann accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and served the Lord diligently. She was a firm believer in the word of God and lived by all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28. Ann was a proud member of Macedonia Baptist Church for nearly 45 years. Second to the Lord, she truly loved her family and her church. Ann once served as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible school coordinator/teacher, district level youth director, and an active member in her acts circle until her health declined. Ann had a contagious smile for all those who came in contact with her and always willingly extended a helping hand to anyone in need. Ann loved reading, traveling, and most of all spending quality time with her girls.

Ann met and married Raymond Lewis Jr. and together they raised two girls TrayNesha and Tanay.

A hard worker since an early age, Ann began her adult career at Owens-Brockway Corporation. She then began her entrepreneurship with the opening of her first business, "Sunshine daycare", "Miss Ann Second Chance" resale shop, and as co-owner with her husband, "Big R Detail and More." Moving into a different career path, Ann ministered as a drug and alcohol substance abuse counselor until being forced into retirement due to her ailment.
Ann was a huge advocate of education and set the bar for her daughters by obtaining two bachelor degrees in Art and Science from Northeastern State University and a Master of Human Relations from The University of Oklahoma.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, Ann made her transition from earth to heaven, where she was reunited with her loved ones who proceeded in death; Her husband, parents, three brothers (Charles, Timothy, and Emael), and two special cousins, whom she loved as sisters, Verdestine Smith and Angela Dawson.

She leaves to lament; her pride and joy, TrayNesha Graham of Fort Smith, Arkansas and TaNay Lewis of Dallas, Texas; her god-daughter, Courtney Stephens of Lawrenceville, Georgia; her siblings Walter (Wanda) Armstrong, Vanessa (Michael) Davis, Verdell (Kolesha), all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Marsha (Charles) Green, Carson, California, Lonnie Brown of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Darnell (Leona) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Two aunts Lucille Vann of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Pearalee Rucker of Saint Louis, Missouri; and her Uncle, Pat Rucker of Muskogee, Oklahoma; a special friend Harold Martin of Checotah, Oklahoma, and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Hour of Remembrance for Ann will commence on Friday, April 19, 2019 at High Noon in the most Holy sanctuary of The Antioch Temple of Hope Church, 500 West Broadway avenue in Muskogee.  Dr. Marlon J. Coleman is the gracious host and Evangelist Gregory Fields will officiate.  The Christian Committal will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
