Obituary

It all began in Pittsburgh, Texas, when a beautiful baby girl was born from
the loving union of Sammie Boone and Beulah [Jennings] Cummings on
May 14,1929. She was named Anna Mae. She was the eighth child of the
family.

In 1940, after her father and mother passed away, she moved to Oktaha,
Oklahoma, to live with her Auntie, Ludie Mae Sewell, at the age of 12. She
was baptized by the late Reverend G. W. Holley at the Sewell Chapel Baptist
Church. Growing up, she attended school in Oktaha, Oklahoma, and High
School at DuBois High School in Summit, Oklahoma. As she began to
mature, she attended Oktaha Baptist Church under Reverend Gilkey.
In 1947, she met and then married Atchielee Derrick. Their union was
blessed with six children. They moved to New Hope Community and
they joined New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend
W. E. McGill. In 1963, the family moved to Muskogee, where she became
a member of the Loving Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the late
Reverend J. A. Reed, Sr.

Mrs. Derrick served the Lord faithfully in many capacities during her life.
She was a member of the Beautification Committee, sang in the choir, a
lady of the Trinity Circle W.M.U., served in the Nurses Guild, was Secretary
of the Midweek Bible Study, a member of the Pastors Aid Committee, a
member of the Prayer Warriors, and also served as secretary over the prayer
meetings.

Mother Derrick worked at Muskogee Regional Medical Center for over
25 years as a nursing aid before her retirement. She loved to fish and her
passion was her beautiful flower garden surrounding her home.
On Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2024, Mother Anna Mae Derrick, with
her loving family near to witness, took hold of God's unchanging hand and
moved from Mount Calvary Baptist Church to "Church Triumphant". She
was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, four brothers, a daughter
and three sons.

She leaves to lament her passing; a daughter, Darlene Derrick, Muskogee; a
son, Lenart Derrick (Pat) of (Houston), a son-in-law, Ardee Brown; daughterin-laws, Freida Derrick and Brenda Derrick; a caravan of grandchildren, a
host of great-grandchildren; her church children, James and Beverly Dorn;
her loving neighbors across the street, Hugo and Graciela Servin; and her
church family at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

The Consecrated Hour of Remembrance for Mother Derrick will commence on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of her beloved Mount Calvary Baptist Church.  Her Pastor, Reverend Gary Hall, Sr., will officiate.
