Anna Jean "Jean" Hankins Ross, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and devout Catholic, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, in Checotah, Oklahoma. She was 86 years old.
Born on May 7, 1939, in Pierce, Oklahoma, to Mary Palmer and Ambris LaCour Sr., Jean grew up surrounded by the warmth and love of family. Throughout her life, she remained deeply rooted in her faith, her community, and the cherished bonds she shared with those closest to her heart.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ambris LaCour Sr. and Mary Palmer LaCour; her brothers, Harold and Edgar LaCour; her devoted husband, Landon Aeriel Hankins (January 9, 1988); her cherished husband, Daniel Ross (May 28, 2019); and her grandson, William Rashad Hankins.Jean had a great love for dominoes, Skip-Bo, and solitaire — and could likely beat you at all three.
She was also a gifted seamstress, quilter, upholsterer, and drapery maker, crafting beautiful, lasting gifts for the people she loved with patience and artistry that few could match.Her devotion to the Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life, providing strength in hardship and joy in celebration. Jean's life was marked by resilience, quiet grace, and an unwavering love for her family.

Funeral Mass for Ms. Hankins Ross will commence on Saturday morning, June 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Uganda Martyr’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service in the Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Spencer, Oklahoma.
