Mr. Anthony Frederick Cooks, a lifelong resident of Okmulgee and better known as "Andy", passed from this life on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Okmulgee.
On March 7, 1965, a baby boy was born from the union of Wilmette Cooks and Hubert Stafford in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. This bouncing, baby boy was named Anthony Frederick Cooks.
Better known as "Andy" to family and friends, Anthony grew up in Okmulgee, where he attended Okmulgee Public Schools. He graduated from Okmulgee Senior High School with the Class of 1983.
Andy was a lifelong member of Eastside Baptist Church, where he attended with his family through the years. He was well known from his skills a a professional boxer. Mr. Cooks had an outgoing personality and was a loyal, devoted family member and friend to all he was close to.
He leaves to lament his passing; his children, Luther Dawson and Barbrae Cooks; four grandchildren; his mother, Wilmette Cooks; his father, Hubert Stafford, Sr. [ Verna Kay]; his siblings, Yurita Cooks-Henry [Kenneth], Tonya Bowie, Gregory Stafford [Jeana], Wendell Stafford, Hubert Stafford, Jr., and LaShauna Stafford; a special friend, Damukio Owens; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Eastside Baptist Church, 3rd and Osage in Okmulgee. Reverend Marcus Jeffrey will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Okmulgee.
