Obituary

On September 5, 1960, a baby boy was born to Henry Williams and Zella Mae Dickens Brown in Tulsa, OK. His name was crowned formally Anthony Williams, lovingly called "Tony" by all. He was the big baby brother to Barbara Berry, Ural Brown Jr., and Michael Brown.
In August 1963, their mother, Zella Mae, passed away leaving behind four children, Tony being the youngest at age 3. Their Grandmother, Edna Coverson White and Aunts Mary Ann and Dolzetta White took the kids into their home.
Tony Sr. enjoyed the times of playing kickball, dodgeball, jumping fences, eating the neighbors grapes, singing, making music with his favorite cousins Rickie, Debra and Greg. A secret pact was made between the four of them to always be there for each other, to the extent that his children looked at these first cousins as Uncles and Aunt.
Tony Sr. attended John Burroughs Elementary School, Gilcrease Middle School and graduated from McLain Scott High School in 1979. He was part of the McLain Fighting Scott's Band with his (cousin) Greg Miller as they watched (cousin) Rickie Miller play on the football team.
At an early age, Tony Sr. would jump the back fence of his home with his grandmother to attend and later join St. Andrew Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing the drums and loved to sing in the choir. Later, he joined Higher Dimension under Carlton Pearson and excitingly sang in the choir sharing singing ministry time with Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams and a host of other gospel singers. With Tony Sr.'s love for singing and his community, he started his own community ministry "In the Name of Jesus Ministry". Tony Sr.'s vision was to minister GOD's words to those living in apartment complexes and miscellaneous locations by providing food donated by the Tulsa Community Food Bank and miscellaneous grocery stores.
Tony Sr.'s personal achievements were to begin his own business with the personal gifts that GOD had given him - the special gift of working with his hands. His business, Tony's Home Improvement for many years blessed his clientele with his carpentry remodeling skills, a smile, and a trusting spirit. He always took the time to save his customers money while delivering quality workmanship.  He responded to emergencies with a calm statement, "I'm on my way!"  In addition to his remodeling, Tony Sr. was a Teacher's Assistant for Tulsa Public School, a hotel repairman, and a security guard at Antioch Baptist Church.
Being self-employed to work for himself was his pride and joy and greatest accomplishment besides having his children. Tony Sr. took his work as an opportunity to let GOD bless others. He was humbled and always glad to do something to make our worlds better! He was an amazing father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, worker, and friend loved by all. Most importantly though, Tony Sr. was a man of GOD who carried himself as a true workman of GOD – sharing his talents and blessings with family, friends and the community.
A few of Tony Sr.'s passions were celebrating his birthday with family and friends. He would barbeque himself or catered meals with Janet Toles - making sure all invited were full and happy. Tony Sr. also loved the Christmas season and the beauty of the lights because, at the time of the year people tended to be nicer. He always looked forward to our annual Canady Coverson Family Reunions, especially since they occurred around his birthday.
On Friday, October 23, 2020, Tony Sr.'s LORD and SAVIOR reached down from Heaven and quietly lifted His faithful servant from earth to his new home in Heaven. Tony Sr. leaves many behind who knew how he gave his all with a humble spirit and big smile.  Tony Sr. was a man after God's own heart.
Tony Sr.'s personal triumph was working hard and beautifying his property. Only fitting, that his last breath was in his home that he worked hard to leave for his heirs and will also be his final resting place.
Preceding him in death were his mother and father, his grandmother Edna, and his sister Barbara.
Tony Sr. leaves to mourn his three children: Anthony D. Williams Jr. (Tulsa, OK), Adrian "Kevionn" Williams-Willis (Bobby) of Ohio, Melanie Williams (Tulsa, OK) and one grandchild Sydney Isaiah. He also leaves his siblings: Ural (Sheila) Brown Jr. (Tulsa, OK), Michael Brown (Lawton, OK); his bonus mother, Luedean Davis, along with her family; Williams family; and a host of loved nephews, nieces, cousins, along with other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held for Tony on Friday November 6, 2020 at 1PM inside Biglow's All Faiths Chapel.
