Mr. Arlanda Carr, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, made his transition to eternity on June 6, 2006 from Broken Arrow Nursing Center.
On May 14, 1921, in Boley, Oklahoma, Robert and Salina Carr gave birth to their youngest child, Arlanda Carr.
Arlanda was a smart man who had a talent for business. Arlanda was blessed and gifted with technical abilities. His father recognized his sons ability and introduced him to the world of Auto Mechanics. What started out as a hobby for a young boy became a vocation for a man.
Arlanda owned and operated C & M Automotive, as well as other automotive businesses during his lifetime. Mr. Carr was a very ambitious man and had the vision to become the first African-American male with a business in Bixby, Oklahoma.
He was the happiest when he was working. When he wasn't working, he had projets. He made beautiful art work, constructed ponds and delighted in showing off his cooking abilities.
Upon his retirement and during his illness, he managed to keep his projects on-going, as he directed the work of others. Mr. Carr was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Belvie, a sister, Alphia and a son, Virgil.
Mr. Carr leaves in God's care; his wife, Shirley Rentie Carr; a devoted and loving son, Anthony Foster, who was also his caretaker before the Lord called him home; Arlanda has five daughters, Joann, Gloria, Frances, Kimberly and Stephanie; He was "granddad" to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he touched the lives of many and will be missed very much.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in Morning Star Baptist Church. Rev. Sam Mingo will officiate and burial will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be on Friday from 12 Noon to 7 PM.
