In the peace of the night, just 90 minutes into the 22nd day of February, Armelia Ridgel Caldwell, after 67 years, "heard a Voice from Heaven" and answered the Master's call.
Born in Portland, Arkansas on November 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Evander and Rosella Ridgel.
Armelia lived several years of her life in St. Louis, Missouri and also East St. Louis, Illinois. She moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma, with Truman Shine in 1976 and lived here for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Bernard Caldwell.
She leaves to cherish her memory; five sons, Charles [Robbie] Caldwell, Mansfield, Texas, Allen Dale Law, Wilbert Caldwell, Tracy Shine and Marcus [Shalonda]Shine, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; three daughters, Tiwanda Caldwell, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Mylinda Caldwell, Fayetteville, Arkansas and Brenda [Thomas] Carson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; four sisters, Bobrie Ridgel-Hickman[James], St. Louis, Missouri, Charlene Ridgel-Windom, North Little Rock, Arkansas, Earnestine Giles, Dermott, Arkansas and Flora Ridgel, Muskogee, Oklahoma; two brothers, E. B. Ridgel, Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Jessie [Bobbie] Ridgel, Cahokia, Illinois; a caravana of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
You may visit Mrs. Caldwell, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM, with Reverend Gary Mitchum, Pastor of New Zion Baptist Church leading the Wake from 6 PM to 7 PM.
Mrs. Caldwell will then be transported to Dermott, Arkansas, for the final hour on Saturday at the St. Paul Baptist Church, followed by interment in Portland Cemetery, Portland, Arkansas.
