Armster Carter was affectionately known as A.C. He was born in Dustin, Oklahoma on Thursday, February 12, 1920 to Ray Carter and Magazine "Maggie" Fennell-Carter. He was the fourth child of six. A.C. accepted Christ at an early age. A.C. married Alma Craig December of 1945 in Muskogee, OK. They were married for 62 years.
A.C. was a retired Rancher. He and his wife, Alma were hard workers. They sold a dozen eggs for 15 cents and two dozen for 25 cents. A.C. could out rope and out-shoot anyone in his day. He won several cattle roping competitions. On another occasion, A.C. shot two raccoons in a walnut tree at one time; with one shot!
A.C. loved his cows. Alma used to tease him about putting a cow head on his headstone. He finally sold his cows at the age of 92. At the age of 98, A.C. relocated to Wichita, Kansas. He joined the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Broderick Huggins.
On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the Lord called Armster Carter (AC) home. A.C. was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Craig Carter; his parents, Ray Carter and Magazine "Maggie" Fennell-Carter; one sister, Gladys Kennard; three brothers, Robert V. Carter, Carse Carter, Othelyn "Brownie"Carter.
He left to cherish his memories: one daughter, Nettie Sanders (Lawrence Sr.) of Wichita, KS; one sister, Inez Jackson (Art Sr.) of Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren: one granddaughter, Stephanie Stovall (Carl) and one grandson, Lawrence Sanders Jr. (Destiny) both of Wichita, Kansas; four great grandsons and one great granddaughter; one great great grandson, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and family friends.
The Celebration of Life for "A.C. will commence on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the People's Chapel at Keith D. Biglow Funeral Home Muskogee, Oklahoma. Reverend Broderick Huggins will officiate and the Pastor, Roscoe Beasley will give the Eulogy.
You may visit Mr. Carter, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the Keith D. Biglow funeral home in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Monday from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
