Early Tuesday morning, March 13, 2007, Mrs. Barbara "Strut" Brown went Home.
On August 17, 1939, a bundle of joy was delivered to Moses Johnson and Maggie Reagor. The bundle of joy was a bouncing baby girl. They named her Barbara Jean. "Strut" attended Okmulgee Public Schools. At a young yet mature age of 16, she married Mr. Leandres Brown. To this union, one son was born. During her life's journey, she was a member of the Easter Star Lounge and faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
"Strut" also spent an early part of her life traveling. She also worked in pediatric unit of the Okmulgee Hospital for numerous years. She spent her glory years in Tulsa with a special niece, Pam, whom she raised as her own.
Preceding Mrs. Brown in death are her parents, 1 son, Donald "Duck" Brown, and a sister Earlene McKnight. Remaining to cherish her precious memories: her loving husband Leandres Brown, Okmulgee, OK., one sister: Ruth White, Tulsa, OK., two brothers: Moses "Boots" Johnson, Kansas City, KS., Clarence "Jazz" Johnson, Okmulgee, OK., six grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services for "Strut" will be Saturday March 24 at 11AM at Eastiside Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Visitation will be Friday from 12Noon to 6PM at the Okmulgee Chapel.
