On a beautiful spring day in Eufaula, Oklahoma, a darling baby girl was born on April 16, 1940 from the loving union of Leroy Thomas, Sr. and Alberta [Glazier] Thomas. She was the sixth of seven children and was named Barbara Marie.
Affectionately known as "Bobbye" to her family and friends, and of course "Ganny" to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was loved by all she encountered.
Bobbye was raised in Muskogee along with her siblings by her mother and step-father, William Wallace. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age under the pastorage of the late Reverend Inman at Mount Calvary, where she worshipped until her health began to fail.
Bobbye received her education in Muskogee, where she graduated from Manual Training High School with the Class of 1959. While at Manual, she mastered the art of cosmotology.
In 1973, she married Elmo "Pete" Cole until his death in 1996. In 1998, she married Raymond Teague, Sr. Bobbye retired from Brockway Glass, where she worked as a packer for 13 years.
On the evening of November 13, 2005, Our Heavenly Father came and carried Bobbye with him to the land of Eternal life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, a husband, three brothers and two sons, Darrell and Douglas Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memory; two sons, Donald "Tojo" McJunkins [Portlan] and Raymond Teague, Jr.[Tina]; a daughter, Denise "Niecey" McBath; a brother, Frank Thomas, Sr. [Gloria]; three sisters, Lillie Mae Clark, Josehine Newton and Doris McKnight[Donald]; two aunts, Lucille Holly, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Ocie Tyalor, Denver, Colorado; twenty-nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Winson McAfee[Barbara], Kansas City, Missouri; two very dear friends, Barbara Scott and Patricia Sallis; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The tribute will be on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. J. A. Reed, Sr., will officiate and Rev. W. R. Norful, Sr., will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee. You may visit "Bobbye" as she slumbers at the funeral home on Friday from 12 Noon until 7 PM.
