Born May 11, 1950 in Beggs, Oklahoma, Barthel Doyle was the fourth of fourteen children born to Adam and Emma Doyle. Moving to Tulsa at a very young age, she attended Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from the historic Booker T. Washington High School with the class of 1968. After graduation, she took a course at Tri-City Vocational School to become a medical unit clerk, but has worked in the financial field at various banks and credit unions, including her current position as a customer service representative at Tulsa Teachers Credit Union.

On December 21, 1973, she married Ronald Stewart, Sr., and the two have remained faithful to one another for over 37 years. Barthel Stewart gave her life to Christ early in life uniting with Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at the age of ten to sing in the choir with her grandmother. She moved to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and became church secretary at the age of 22. She then became a member of Sunset and Greater Faith Baptist Church's and held the offices of church secretary, treasurer, youth director, Sunday School teacher, and chaplain of Missionary Circle.

Barthel was called home on Friday April 29, 2011 at 7:45AM. Her parents, one sibling, and one child (Felicia LaChelle) preceded her in death. Remaining to cherish her precious memories are her loving husband, Ronald Stewart, Sr., five children: Anissa DeAnne, LaKishea Brenee, Ronald, Jr. (Amber), Faith LaShaun (John), and Brittany Nicole, nine grandchildren: Christopher Sean, Tara LaChelle, Tori LaShaun, Terrance Lamont, Tiah LaShae, Ronald III, Ronni Nicole, Rhian Michelle, and Alasia LaDawn, 12 brothers and sisters, 62 nieces and nephews, 42 great neices and nephews, 32 great-great nieces and nephews, 4 great-great-great nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.

Services for Barthel Stewart will be Thursday May 5, 2011 at 11AM at Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1365 E. 46th St. North in Tulsa. Friends may visit her as she rests on Wednesday from 12Noon until 7PM in Tulsa.
