An angel was given to us on Saturday, November 1, 1941. Her name was Beatrice (Brooks) Whittaker. She was the first of eight children born to Elgie Brooks Sir and Elizabeth (Demery) Brooks in Edna, OK. As the firstborn she was known as the boss and protector of her family. If you messed with any of her family, you would have literally had a fight on your hands.
She graduated from Slick High School with the Class of 1959. She loved education especially the health industry. She accepted Christ as a child and was baptized at Tuskegee Baptist Church in Edna, Ok. She continued her walk with Christ by joining Macedonia Baptist Church under the pastorship of the late Rev. C.J. Jeffrey and now under Rev. Judson Fields.
Beatrice met Enoch Whittaker Sir who would be her soulmate whom she was married to for 56 years. When asked what made this work, Enoch says "just give her what she want and make sure that she's happy." She achieved in getting her certification as a Surgical Technician which she loved doing for over 35 years. She also received her Associate Degree in Computer Sciences from Oklahoma State University.
Bea's enthusiasm for traveling took her to many exciting places, including trips overseas to Italy, France, Germany, and many more. She loved spending time and going shopping with her family especially the grandchildren. She was known as a stylish dresser, fondly known as the hat sister in that many of her suits or attire had a matching hat. Rarely, would you see her at church without a hat. Bea enjoyed cooking especially during the holidays, cooking her famous Turkey and Dressing and raisin pecan pies.
She became ill two years ago and would constantly amaze her family, friends and even the medical staff at the Cancer Center of her faith and strength during her ordeal. She would state that "It was her faith in God that kept her strong and everything is in His hands." On October 2, 2018, with her family by her side she entered into her eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, a baby brother and her son Orlando.
She leaves to cherish her memory until they meet again in Heaven; her loving and devoted husband Enoch Sr; her 5 children; Katherine Wilson of Carrollton, TX, Enoch Jr (Darla) of Broken Arrow, OK, Dee Ann (Mark) Parham of Douglasville, GA and Joey Denise (Derry) Williamson of Tulsa, OK; Four grandsons; Nathan Wilson Jr of Carrollton, TX; Troy Parham (Amanda) of Douglasville, GA; Trenton Parham of Douglasville, GA; Darius Williamson of Tulsa, OK; Two granddaughters ; Taylor Nikole Whittaker of Tulsa and Marquise Parham of Douglasville, GA; Three great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.
