Sr.
June 13, 1941 – April 22, 2020
On June 3, 191, Bernard Wilson, Sr., was born from the union of Andrew and Cecelia [Gouthier] Wilson in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
After the passing of his mother, Bernard was raised in Okmulgee by his Uncle Henry and Aunt Mae Lyons, where he attended and graduated from Historic Dunbar High School. Bernard was of the Catholic Faith and attended Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and upon completion, furthered his education at Langston University, where he received his Master's Degree in Education. Mr. Wilson was employed for many years in the teaching profession in Tulsa nd Okmulgee Public Schools until his retirement.
On the morning of April 22, 2020, Bernard Wilson, Sr., after 78 years with us, ended his earthly race and received his heavenly reward. He was preceded in death by his parents, his Aunt and Uncle, his daughter, Malinda Myles, two great-granddaughters and his brothers, Dwight, Gregory and Gary.
Mr. Wilson leaves behind to lament his death, yet cherish his memory; his devoted wife, Joyce Wilson, of the home in Okmulgee; his children from his union in marriage to Shirley [Simon] Wilson, Cynthia Smith, Terry Perkings [Emmett], Bernard Wilson, Jr. [Donna], MaLissa McCLellan [Timothy], Victoria Foster [Jesse], and Holly Alexander [Kennard]; Three sons from his union in marriage to Katherine Moses, Anthony Wilson, Daryl Wilson [Monica] and Jeryl Wilson; his brother and sisters, Barbara Factory, Andrew Wilson, Faye Reed, Joyce Glover and Andy Garrison [Carl]; and a caravan of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step-children, other relatives and friends.
You may visit Mr. Wilson, as he slumbers in peaceful repose on Monday from 12 Noon until 5 PM and on Tuesday, from 10 AM until 6 PM in the Chapel of Peace at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.
A graveside ceremony will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Hoardsville Cemetery. Only 10 designated family members will be able to be at the graveside. Other family and friends may assemble at the funeral home and remain in your vehicles and join the funeral procession to the cemetery. You are kindly asked to remain in your vehicles and the funeral home staff will distribute programs to your car.
The funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 10:30 A.M.
