Bernice Marie Jones-Tyson in her 84th season was called home on July 1, 2021.

She was born on January 27, 1937, in Preston, Oklahoma, to Leon Jake Jones and Bertha Marie Stokes-Jones. She attended Preston and Beggs Public Schools.

Bernice accepted Christ at an early age. For many years, she attended Virgin Street Church of Christ. After becoming ill and moving in with her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, Luther, she attended Gilcrease Hills Baptist Church with them.

Bernice worked as a nurse assistant at Okmulgee Hospital. In the mid-1970s she moved to Tulsa and worked as a nurse assistant and later as a monitor technician at St. Johns Hospital, where she eventually retired.

Bernice was a devoted mother who was very family oriented. She loved socializing with her sisters, cousin Lillie Belle and friends. She loved doing arts and crafts, listening to music, and dancing. She was a very feisty and fiery person who was courageous through any adversity.

Bernice is survived by: her daughters, Patricia Pegues (Luther) of Tulsa, OK, and Janice Jones of Cedar Hill, TX; her sons, Carl Jones, Jr., Dwight Jones, and Stanley Jones, all of Tulsa, OK; her sisters, Brenda Jones-Butts, Linda Jones, both of Tulsa OK, and Wanda Hammon of Lawton, OK; 13 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Bertha Jones; three brothers, Leroy Jones, Leo Jones, and Larry Jones; two sisters, Willie Mae Jones and Ruth Anne Jones; and son, Jackie Miller.

Her sacred farewell will commence on Saturday morning, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the most Holy Sanctuary of the Gilcrease Hills Baptist Church.  Pastor Leron West will be officiating.

The Christian Committal will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery in Okmulgee.
