Bishop Charles Edward Nero, a Servant of God, after blessing us for "Three Score Years, and Sixteen," began his fellowship at "Church Triumphant" on Friday, July 22, 2005.
Charles Edward Nero was born on September 13, 1928 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, the son of the late Hillard and Elmire [Satchell] Nero.
He attended Nero Elementary School and graduated from Fort Gibson Lincoln High School.
Realizing the importance of a personal relationship with Christ, Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized on the Four Mile Branch.
After finishing school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his Country honorably from June 18, 1946 until May 31, 1948. He then furthered his education at Tulsa Community College.
Bishop Nero accepted his calling into the ministry and served as Pastor of Celestial Temple Community Church in Los Angeles, California for many years. He later relocated to Oklahoma, where he met and later married Sister Hattie Northcross. Together, they established the Celestial Temple Spiritual Church in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
He leaves in God's care and to celebrate his homegoing; a loving and devoted wife, Hattie, of the home; a daughter, Saudia and Mike; a son, Charles, Jr., both of Los Angeles, California; two brothers, Hillard Nero, Jr., Omaha, Nebraska and Willie and Mary Lee Nero, Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Rosa Lee Johnson, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; an aunt, Dorothy Fleming, Omaha, Nebraska; and a spiritual son, Elder Clark Gilford; along with a caravan of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Worship service of Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the Goodwill Church of God in Christ, 5111 West Oklahoma. Elder John Martin is the gracious host pastor and Reverend Walter Brown, Sr., will deliver the Message. The Christian committal will follow in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson at 2:00 P.M.
