Obituary

Ms. Bobbie Brown, in her 57th year, "left with Angels, to thine place of rest" on Saturday morning, July 9, 2011 with her loving family near.

Bobbie Shane Brown-Wigfall was the middle child of twelve children born to Lonnie and Velma Brown on September 24, 1952 in Wetumka, Oklahoma.

She dedicated her life to Christ at the age of 11, proclaiming Him as her Lord and Savior. Bobbie was a member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as the Pastor's Assistant, Sunday School Teacher and in many other auxillaries.

On February 6, 2011, she experienced a "Season of Change" and renewed her faith with a fresh annointing at Divine Love Christian Fellowship Ministries, under the Pastorage of Bishop Michael and Pastor Tamica Webber.

She received her formal education in Muskogee Public Schools. She was among the last Manual Training High School Graduates, finishing with the Class of 1971, which later that year, integrated with Muskogee High School.

Bobbie worked at Muskogee Day Nursery and Muskogee General Hospital on the Pediatrics Ward, where her passion and love for children began. Bobbie received a bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University in Elementary Education. She gained employment with Boynton Public Schools, retiring in May of 2010.

As a new member of Divine Love, Bobbie testified "God puts the right people in my life to accomplish His goals for me. He led me to the doorstep of Boynton Public Schools, where He kept me covered for 32 years, while planting His word into the children." For 26 years of her time at Boynton, she diligently worked side by side with her sister, "Mrs. Woodard" where they were affectionately referred to as "The Sisters." When you saw one, you could guarantee that the other one wasn't any more than two steps behind! Bobbie also worked for several years, part-time and later, full-time at Wall's Bargain Center. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting and conversing with her associates and customers. She would faithfully hurry home from work [teaching] to go to work [cashier at Wall's]. Regardless of the task the faced, she did it with passion.

Although she had no biological children, she referred to her students as "my babies" and she also had a host of nieces and nephews that she truly adored. On May 12, 1988 and July 20, 1990, she graciously supported her baby sister during labor and assisting in the birthing process, acting as a second mother to these two special nephews, until she went to be with her Lord.

Bobbie lovingly took care of her mother, father, and a brother for 21 years, single-handedly, before she met and fell in love with her husband, David. They were blissfully married for only eleven months before David was diagnosed with a terminal illness which brought his faithful race to an end in December, 2010.

She shared a special bond with her mother. Her last breath was taken in the comfort of her mother's presence, as she peacefully stole away to Glory. Earlier in her journal writings, she testified; "God gives me a support system of other believers who are there to encourage and uplift me as I continue to go through some of life's storms. I am presently going through some things and Divine Love, Pastor Webber, and Mother Webber, I don't think you'll ever know how thankful to God I am for a support system like you. Thank you."

She also stated, "And my family support system...I'll never understand people who don't get along with their family. If God gave me a choice, I'd choose the exact same family that I have now, "The Browns" I've loved for 57 years." On July 4th, after a lengthy day of visits from family and friends, physically drained and with shortness of breath, she simply said, "All the Love."

She is preceded in death by her husband, David; her father, Lonnie C. Brown, Sr.; a brother, Lieutenant L. Brown, Sr., her sister-in-law, Barbara Derrick-Brown; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She leaves in God's care to cherish her memories; her mother, Velma L. Brown; her brothers, Ardee, Cedric [Danetta], Lonnie Jr.[Aretha], and Robbie; her sisters, Baby Vee [Winnard], Jestene, Wonda, Annette [Karl], Sequita [Raymond] and Carmel. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and two very special, best friends whom she and the family has claimed as our "sisters', Barbara Lefall-Henry and Tressa Chatman-White; also her "favorite" brother-in-law, [ the other brothers-in-law already knew....] Nathan.

On May 8, 2011, Bobbie wrote in her journal, "I confess my sins to you Father, asking your forgiveness. I know I'm broken down now and maybe not much use to You in this shape, but Lord, I give myself to You to use as You please for your glory. I thank you Lord and praise You. Bobbie."

The Hour of Tribute will commence on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Divine Love Fellowship Church, 500 North "F" Street in Muskogee. Pastor Michael Webber will Preside.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee.
