Ms. Bobbie J. Stones, in her 84th season, "dozed into everlasting peace" on Tuesday morning, January 30, 2018 from her home in Haskell, Oklahoma.
Bobbie Jean Williams was born on February 13, 1933, from the loving union of Edgar John "E.J." Williams and Cora Berlester Dowdell-Williams in Muskogee County, near Haskell, Oklahoma. Bobbie was the ninth child of sixteen children in the family.
Bobbie joined Coal Creek Baptist Church at an early age, then later in life, became a member of the First Baptist Church-South in Beggs, Oklahoma. She obtained her education in Muskogee County, where she attended Elementary school at Coal Creek and High School at Wheatley High School in Boynton, Oklahoma.
After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she received and added two more years to her education. She became the wife of Milton "Bud" Hopkins until God called him home. For the next 25 years, she was the founder and President of a home for mental health patients. Bobbie often performed public speaking, including the J. R. Williams family historical biographies and other civic duties for the City of Los Angeles.
Bobbie was a world traveler. She visited most of the United States and several countries on many different occasions. Later in life, she met and married J. T. Stones, who also preceded her in death. Bobbie was not a biological Mother, but she had the opportunity to share six bonus children; Marva, Pamela, Debby, Timothy, J.T. Jr., and Hope. she had many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents and twelve siblings; David, Charles, Marcus, Esther, Mattie, Connie, Ruby, Eugene, Ogdon, Oscar, John and Doretha.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life; her brothers, Dock B. Williams Sr. [Gloria], Maurice M. Williams [Marsha], Floyd Wayne Williams [Beverly] and a brother-in-law, Homer C. Coleman; along with a caravan of other relatives, loved ones and friends.
The sacred farewell to Mrs. Bobbie J. Hopkins-Stones will commence on Saturday morning, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the most Holy Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church-South in Beggs, Oklahoma. Pastor Greg Lewis, Senior Pastor, will Preside. The Christian Committal will follow the service in the Haskell City Cemetery in Haskell, Oklahoma.
Friends may visit Sister Bobbie, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Okmulgee on Friday from 12 Noon until 6:00 PM.
