Booker T. Blackmon was born on February 16, 1936, the son of Jimmy and Christine [Marks] Blackmon in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
Booker grew up in the Four Mile Branch community and attended Thompson School. Being a hard worker, he worked numerous jobs during his lifetime. At a young age, he began working and worked an extended period of time at Bowers Feed and Mill in Muskogee and Omaha, Nebraska.
As a young man, he met and later married Ceola Post. Two children were born from this union. This marriage was later dissolved. He later married Mary Stout in Muskogee, Oklahoma and three children were born from this union.
As time progressed, Booker began his career in the concrete business. He was best known as a Concrete Entrepreneur, an expert at concrete finishing and his art of Bulldogging in the Rodeo circuit throughout the United States.
During the morning hours of August 18, 2019, while convalescing at the Wagoner Care Center in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the Lord relieved Booker of his suffering, when he called him home, from labor to refreshment. He was preceded in death by parents, a baby girl Phyllis, a great grandchilid, three brothers, Isiah, Theodore and Alex; and three sisters, Genoa, Ethel and Annie.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory; his precious children; a son, Booker T. Blackmon, Jr., Muskogee, Oklahoma, three daughters, Sharon Elaine Blackmon [Thomas], of North Carolina, Marilyn Blackmon Current, Muskogee, Oklahoma and Kelly Blackmon Alexander [Tony], Muskogee, OKlahoma; six grandchildren; a brother, Herman Blackmon [Cheryl], Muskogee, Oklahoma; four sisters, Geneva Smith, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Velester Payne, Denver, Colorado, Betty Dawson, Phoenix, Arizona and Georgia Nero, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service of Memory for Mr. Blackmon will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Antioch Temple of Hope. Dr. Marlon J. Coleman is the gracious host Pastor and Reverend Walter Brown, Jr., will officiate. Burial will follow in the Four Mile Branch Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
