"Reflections"
The Life Story of Mr. Boyd Wayne Prince began on May 19, 1967 in San Francisco, born to the proud union of Millard Buggs and Almeta Mayo. During his early childhood, he was adopted by his grandmother, Mrs. Leonteen Prince, and her husband Mr. Walter Prince. Those early years were spent on his grandmothers' farm raising chickens, cows, and pigs, and helping his Uncle Charles maintain the farm.
Boyd was a serious student through his High School Years. He was a good basketball player and raised cattle through the Future Farmers of America. He also raised a prize winning cow which won at the local State Fair. His studious efforts enabled him to be named Valedictorian of his Senior Class at Boynton High School. Upon graduation, he furthered his education enrolling at Langston University, where he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He loved Omega Psi Phi, always wearing a Omega shirt, cap or pin.
After college, Boyd moved to Tulsa and began working for Tulsa County where he was a respected and loved employee. In order to purchase a new home Boyd worked a couple of part-time jobs to save money. He worked as a security guard and he referred high school sports until his health began to fail. One sure way to get Boyd to visit your home was to call him and invite him to watch a football or basketball game and serve snacks. He would actively participate as "arm chair" quarterback or coach.
Boyd loved his immediate and extended family and always remained positive even when the situation was negative. He was truly one that took lemons and made lemonade. On October 13, 2009 Boyd Wayne, as he was affectionately called by his grandmother, Persevered into his Triumphant Glory and entered Eternal Rest. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his devoted step-father, Millard Buggs, sisters: Ms. Devonne Boatwright (Kurston), Ms. Kimberly Graves (Doug), Ms. Kimberly Graves (Doug) and Ms. Denise Buggs (Edward), his aunt, Ms. Zenobia Mayo, Uncle Charles C. Mayo, nieces and nephews: Kavon Silmon, Jordan Buggs, Dre'shawn & Daylon Meeks, Derek Buggs, Olivia Graves, Danielle Champaign and Kayden Boatwright, along with Michael, Andre, Kaicee Mayo, Corazon, Roxietta, and Tony Dale Chaplin, all from California, along with a host of friends and other relatives.
Services for Mr. Prince will be Saturday October 17, 2009 at 11AM at Pine Street Christian Church. Visitation will be Friday from 12PM to 7PM inside the All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa.
