IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brandon Asher
Bowen
July 29, 1981 – October 26, 2023
Brandon Asher Bowen was born July 29,1981, in Berkely, California, the only child of Judy Kay Bowen.
Brandon attended elementary school in Oakland, CA at Elisabeth Sherman School from Kindergarten to the 3rd grade and Kaiser Magnet School from the 4th grade to the 6th grade. Brandon and his Mother moved to Oakley in 1992, where Brandon attended O'Hara Park Middle School and then graduated from Freedom High School in Oakley, CA, in 1999.
Brandon was raised in Oakland and Oakley with his cousin Joseph Mattox, before she relocated to Las Vegas, with his cousin Annette Burton. They were raised more like siblings instead of cousins. Brandon was very close to his cousins and loved hanging out and talking to them. He was
especially close to Bria Givens, Shyla Givens, Nichole Warren, and Alfred Andrew Bowen Jr (Andrew). Brandon lived in Oakley with his mother or "Mommis," as he affectionately called her. Every one of Brandon's friends identified with his mother using that name.
Brandon loved to attend Bible Study which was started by his mother many years ago as a means of learning the Word of the Lord and keeping in touch with the family. Brandon was a great Bible scholar where he took up reading the entire Bible before he was 10 years old. Brandon moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for about a year in 2017 until he made the choice to move back to Oakley when his mother became ill.
Brandon was extremely talented in both art and music. He was the "official" artist for the Family Reunion t-shirts and provided art when we had family auctions. Brandon also gained local fame with his rapping, appearing with his own rap/hip-hop band B.B.P. (Big Break Playas), as a solo
artist under the name 20/20, and as a guest with other bands. Brandon was known to his friends as "B," who paid him special tribute on November 11, 2023, what a great many of his friends attended.
Brandon is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Bowen; aunt, Jane Givens; great-aunt, Cheryl Mattox; and special cousin, Joyce Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his cousins Joseph Mattox (Los Angeles, CA), Annette Burton and Bria Givens (Wylie, TX), Shyla Givens and Nichole Warren (Plano, TX) and Andrew Bowen (Santa Ana, CA). His Uncles (whom he had a great relationship with), Arthur Bowen (Hayward, CA) and Alfred Bowen Sr. (Norman OK); his aunt, June Sheppard (Wylie, TX) and a special uncle Joe Mattox (Danville, CA) and a special great-uncle Michael Warren (Muskogee, OK). He is also survived by his great aunts and great uncles, a host of other cousins across the country and many, many friends. Above all and in all, Brandon loved the Lord and was a child of the Most High God, who has called him home to rest.
