Born on November 22, 1961, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Brian was the second born to Jackson and Dorothy James.

Raised in a strong Christian home, Brian was baptized at an early age at Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James McDaniel. He remained a faithful servant of the church, offering his time and talents through custodial work and support until his health began to decline.

Brian discovered a love for sports early in life. While attending Muskogee High School, class of 1980, he found his stride in both football and baseball. An unfortunate knee injury ended his football aspirations, but he went on to excel in baseball, earning a scholarship to Connors State College. Though his time there was brief, it reflected his determination and talent.

Brian was married to his high school sweetheart for five years, and from that union came three daughters, Stephanie, Markita and Jaleesa. He was a devoted father, taking pride in raising his children with love and dedication. Though the marriage ended, his commitment to fatherhood never wavered. In time, Brian found love again, and from that bond, his son Jemel was born.

Brian is preceded in death by his father, Jackson James Jr.; his brother, Stephen Allen James; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Mr. Brian Keith James, in his 63rd season, departed this life on Saturday morning, June 21, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his loving family near his side.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved children — Stephanie, Yukon, OK, Markita, Vernon, CT, Jaleesa (Dustin Mantooth), Norman, OK, and Jemel (Mikayla James), Muskogee, OK; his devoted mother, Dorothy James; his grandchildren—Jonathan Jr., SiMiaya, Lamar Jr., London,
Olivia, his new grandchild Nevaeh, Haidyn, and Malia; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Brian will be remembered for his sense of humor, his unwavering loyalty to family and faith, and the love he poured into his children and grandchildren.

A Memorial Service reflecting upon Brian's life will commence on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00PM in the most holy sanctuary of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Muskogee, where his Pastor David Ragsdale will preside.
