Brittany Nears was born December 25, 1991 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the fourth child of five children born to Irene Bowie and Dewey Nears. She attended Tulsa public schools. She attended church at Victory Christian Center. Brittany was a mentor for the Youth at heart, a team leader for the Hamilton Middle School basketball team, and was involved in other school activities. Brittany was like a big sister to the neighborhood children that knew her. She enjoyed doing hair, writing poetry, singing, dancing, and spending time with her close friends, Antoinette and Treacy. Brittany, whose favorite song was "Walk It Out," was a great leader, a beautiful person. She was no stranger to helping or making others feel good. She had a big heart, and a listening ear for anyone that had a problem or just wanted a friend. That was Brittany.

Brittany "walked it out" for as long as she could. She is now in a better place with a smile on her face. She departed this life on May 8, 2007. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her mother and father, Irene Bowie and Dewey Nears, three brothers: Thomas David, Kentrell, two sisters: Avis and Tiffany, nieces: Precious, Armi, Araia, Lawana, nephews: Antonio, Kvaun, Thomas, Rashawn, aunts: Serreda Williams, Oklahoma City, Joynce Jones, Bernetta Nears, Trina Berry, Tracy Jones, Rochelle Frazier, Tasha Johnson, Lucille Bowie, Tulsa, OK., uncles: Chester Jones, Keith Barnes, Joseph Bowie, Raymond Bowie, Tulsa, OK., Allen Bowie, Austin, TX., Anthony Bowie, Nigel Bowie, Orlando, FL., Godfather Johnny Dean, and Godmother Rose Smith. She will join in her Homegoing Celebration, her deceased grandparents, Dewey and Kelsia Nears, and uncles James Adams, Jacob Bowie, III, and James Bradford.

Services for Brittany are Wednesday May 16, 2007 at 11AM at Church Of The Living God in Tulsa. Visitation is Tuesday from 12Noon to 7PM at the funeral home in Tulsa.
