On June 4, 2014, Calvin "Cowbo" Simon was called upon to enter the golden gates of Heaven at the young age of 45. Calvin began life's journey on April 15, 1969 to Cleo Simon and John Edmerson. Growing up in Okmulgee he had many friends. He loved music and being a DJ for his family and friends, as well as cars and sports. He played varsity football and was a member of the Okmulgee Bulldog Track Team. In his younger years, he was also an avid boxer. In 1987 upon graduating from high school, Calvin enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served his country proudly until 1990, with a rank of E3.
Calvin didn't have children of his own but he had many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He loved his family but more importantly Calvin loved his Lord Jesus Christ and when given the opportunity he would sit down with anyone and have Bible study. Calvin held true to his faith and his belief in God. Calvin was full of life, and loved all. He never met a stranger and always had a beautiful smile. If Calvin could give advice to anyone, it was to always love one another and love our Father God even more. Today we celebrate all the loving times we shared with Calvin.
Though it's hard to bare his exit from this Earth, please know that he wouldn't want anyone to sorrow but to remember and cherish good times and smile like he would always would. Those remaining to cherish those good times are his siblings: Carol Sue Simon (Ulysses), Okmulgee, OK, Maurice Simon (Nancy), South Bend, IN, Regionald Edmerson, South Bend, IN, Darrell Edmerson, Texas, John T. Edmerson, Ohio, Anthereca Edmerson (Marvin), Goshen, Indiana, Gamaiel Edmerson, Los Angeles, CA, maternal grandparents Roberta Cobray Simon, Gideon Simon, an aunt Shirley Wilson, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services for "Cowbo" will be Friday June 13, 2014 at 2PM at the St. Mary's Christian Center in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
