REFLECTIONS OF A Beautiful Life, Well Lived
"Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies. She
openeth her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness."
Proverbs 31:10
On February 23, 1940, a beautiful baby girl was born to James Herman and Dorothy Mae Parker. They named her Carol Sue Parker. She was the third born child and was welcomed by her big sisters, Irma Jean and Leanna Marie. She was the baby girl but later welcomed a little brother, James Edward Parker. She was raised in Okmulgee, OK. She received her education in the Okmulgee school system where she earned her GED. Carol accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She rededicated her life to Christ in her later years and took great pride that she was saved. Although her health prevented her from attending church, she loved to talk about the goodness of God and sing and worship him in her home.
In 1957, she married Mitchell Goudeau III and was blessed with four beautiful children, Kathy, Faye, Arlene, and Mitchell IV. After Mitchell's death she married Sterling Ross, Jr., her wonderful husband of 57 years. Their union
was blessed with one son, Sterling Ross III. Sterling helped Carol raise their son and also her four little children. She was a good wife, and she was THE BEST MOTHER! She had a way of making each one of her children feel like
they were her favorite. Each one had a special place in her heart. Carol was a homemaker who cared for her family. When she became a grandmother, she was active in her grandchildren's lives and helped care for them. She always cooked a big Sunday dinner and looked forward to being with her children and grandchildren. She will be affectionately remembered for her very humorous personality. She was always kidding and joking with her family.
When Carol began to need help to care for herself, she was blessed to be affectionately cared for by her baby girl, Arlene, and her baby boy, Sterling. Our sweet mother grew tired and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday,
November 6, at 6:00 a.m. She was welcomed by her mother and father, James Herman and Dorothy Mae Parker; sisters, Irma Jean Todd and Leanna Marie Goudeau; brother, James "Sonny" Parker; and special niece, Janice Bagby.
Their family is now complete again in Heaven. She was also welcomed by many other relatives and friends.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memory: her husband, Sterling Ross, Jr.; children, Kathy O'Guin Simon (Allen), Faye Dean (Reg), Arlene Goudeau, Mitchell Goudeau IV (Donna), and Sterling Ross III (Vicky); grandchildren, Thaddyeus Thompson, Allyson O'Guin, Sterling Ross (S.J.), and Kail Williams; great-grandchildren, Jachob, Kylie, Daelyn, Isaiah, Imonei, and Anthony; nieces, Sharon, Joyce, and Marsheila; nephews, Glenn, Oathar Jr., Mark, Shaun, Roderick, and MarKeaton; special uncle, Billy Parker; special cousin, Lucille Parker; best friend, Gladys McFalls; great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
We will cherish her memory and keep her in our hearts until we see her again one day!
