Obituary

A special delivery arrived in Los Angeles, California on December 21, 1944 to Arthur Lee and Novella [Casey] Webb, Jr.  She was named Carolyn Virginia and was the third of eight children born from their loving union.

At an impressionable age, she professed her love for Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Brewster.

Carolyn and her siblings integrated Muskogee Public School System, enduring those resisting the transition.  She was a PROUD graduate of Historic Manual Training High School with the Class of 1962.  After high school,  she worked as a beautician in Mrs. Ousley's Beauty Shop, while working her way through nursing school.  Soon, she began working as a nurse aid while attending school at Bacone College.

At the age of 23, she married George A. Palmer in 1968.  They were blessed with a daughter, Michelle.  This marriage was dissolved and she continued working and pursuing her career dream of becoming a registered nurse and laboring to a charge nurse.  In 1982, she married Herbert Mure and  her career advanced to Administrator of Surgical Nursing.  Carolyn finished her journey as an IV Administration Specialist, [teaching others to locate veins properly] retiring after 36 years of dedicated service to Muskogee General Hospital, which was later Muskogee Regional Medical Center.

Then, as she promised, after retirement, Carolyn bought her 2010 Mustang sports car.  It was then that "Mustang Sally" arrived.

After 73 years with us, Carolyn Virginia Mure transitioned from "Life to Everlasting" on Monday, April 2, 2018 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in rest by her parents, Arthur Lee Webb, Jr., and Novella Gaston, two sisters, Patricia Bowens and Doris McBride and two nieces, Rolanda McBride and Cassaundra Webb.

She leaves to cherish her memory;  her daughter, Michelle Palmer [Terry], Muskogee, Oklahoma;  her siblings, Leon Webb [Anna], Lawton, Oklahoma, Gwendolyn Shy [Cleveland], Trenton, New Jersey, Terry D. Webb, Owasso, Oklahoma, and Cynthia Webb, Muskogee, Oklahoma;  eight nieces, eight nephews and nine grandnieces and nephews.

The Hour of Remembrance for Ms. Mure will commence on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of the Rayfield Baptist Church.  Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., is the gracious host Pastor, and the Eulogy will be given by her Pastor, Reverend David Ragsdale, Jr., Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow the service in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at her home Church,  Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
