Obituary

On February 19, 1937, one of God's brightest stars entered the earthly realm and was delivered into the loving arms of Robert and Mary (Smith) Biglow. Born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, she was the seventh of ten children, and she was given the name Carrie Mae Biglow.

At an early age, Carrie dedicated her life to Christ and attended St. Mary's Baptist Church in the rural community of Sharp/Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Carrie graduated from the historic Dunbar High School in Okmulgee.

Proverbs 31 says, "Who can find a virtuous woman for her price is far above rubies." On the 26th day of May 1955, Elsworth Lewis found such a treasure, and they were united in holy matrimony for 63 years. From that love, eight beautiful girls were born. Carrie was a dedicated wife and mother who treasured her family and embraced every moment. She was a talented seamstress and poetry writer. After raising her children, Carrie returned to her passion for teaching and retired from Dewar Public Schools after 27 years of service.

Carrie deepened her faith walk under the guidance of Mother Grace Tucker, founder of Revival Center House of Prayer, where several other churches were organized. Rev. Henry McGriff became the Pastor of Holy Temple House of Prayer, Grayson, Oklahoma, where Carrie sat under his leadership until God called him home. After his leadership, Carrie's faith and dedication led her to becoming the Pastor of Holy Temple House of Prayer, where she remained until her health declined.

Pastor Lewis worked tirelessly and was dedicated to winning souls to Christ. Despite her health, she continued to pray for and encourage others. One of the greatest gifts Pastor Lewis leaves is a Godly example. Pastor Lewis preached, practiced, and lived by the word of God.

In the early morning hours of December 2, 2021, the Lord God, in His infinite wisdom, dispatched His angels and called His faithful servant home. Carrie was preceded in death by her loving husband,  Elsworth Lewis; parents, Robert and Mary Biglow; four brothers, Hilton, Milton, Elmer, Arthur; and one sister, Maxine.

To cherish her memory and continue her legacy, she leaves: eight daughters, Terri (Roy) McConnell, Larzetta (Elma) Lang, Charlotte Lewis, Marlene (Charles) Anderson, Doris (Robert) Lang, Delois (Calgry) Smith, Reda (Aaron) Tate, and Wilma (Galian) Murphy; three sisters, Lois Wilson, Erma Dean, and Joyce (Michael) Byers; one brother, Alfred (Bernice) Biglow; 34 grandchildren; 80 great- grandchildren; god-daughter, Ruby Marshall; god-son, Pastor C.E. Spaulding; plus a host of relatives and friends.
