Carsie Ellen Hardaway's Obituary

In the warm, crisp summer of 1932, Douglas and Mildred [Long] Davis, Sr., celebrated the arrival of a baby girl into their lives in Chicago, Illinois. She was named Carsie Ellen.

Carsie Ellen Hardaway was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was a loving, Christian lady, in every sense of the word.

She served the Lord faithfully, evident through her devotion to her husband and assisting him while he served as Pastor at Central Missionary Baptist Church and later, Old Agency Baptist Church.

Her dedication and humility is even more evident through her constant care of her husband through his illness and the love she has provided to her family.

Mother Carsie Ellen Hardaway, after blessing us for 73 years, traveled "up the Highway called Holiness" on Friday evening, July 22, 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, T. C. and Eugene Davis.

She leaves to lament her passing; her loving husband; Reverend James E. Hardaway, Sr., of the home in Muskogee; her sons, James E. Hardaway, Jr., Thomas Hardaway and Melvin Hardaway, all of Muskogee; her daughters, Patricia Ingram, Long Beach, California and Dorothy Hardaway, Muskogee; her brothers, Douglas Davis, Jr., and Larnell Davis, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her sisters, Doris Thompson, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Linda Roberson, San Jose, California; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen grandchildren; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.

The homegoing celebration will be on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. in the Central Missionary Baptist Church, 1400 Georgetown Avenue in Muskogee. Reverend Ray K. Gaines, the host pastor, will officiate and Reverend Frank Morrison will render the Eulogy. The Christian committal will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.

You may visit Mrs. Hardaway, as she slumbers at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors,Inc., on Friday from 12 Noon until 7 PM.

Her sons and grandsons will honor her as Casket bearers at the service.
