In Muskogee, Oklahoma on April 6, 1923 a daughter was born to Crawford and Elnora Jones. They named her Catherine Louise and she was the fourth of ten children. Catherine was a 1942 graduate of Manual Training High School and after finishing school, later met and married Hoyt McIntosh, Sr., and to this union one child was born.
She had professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the Missionary Circle. In 2009 she relocated to Detroit, Michigan.
Catherine was a precinct worker with the Muskogee County Election Board for many years. She also operated a private day care center. She enjoyed sewing, and had taken several sewing classes over the years. One of her most enjoyable hobbies was gardening and canning.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, 9 siblings, a grandson, Michael McIntosh, Sr., and a great-granddaughter Kristina Latrice McIntosh.
On Saturday, March 1, 2014, Catherine Louise McIntosh was called home to be with the Lord.
She leaves to mourn a son, Hoyt McIntosh, Jr. (Evelyn), a grandson Christopher McIntosh, a granddaughter, Carmen McIntosh, 5 great-grandchildren all of Detroit, Michigan and 2 great-grandchildren of Memphis, Tennessee, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Her sacred farewell ceremony will commence on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church. Reverend Larry H. Smith, Sr., Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery. You may visit Mrs. McIntosh, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 Noon until 6 PM.
