Obituary

Mr. Cavell Steven Taylor-Carpenter, in his 32nd year, "finished early" on Saturday, June 6, 2021 from Porter, Oklahoma.

On July 21st, 1988, a beautiful baby boy was born to Mary Louise Carpenter and Marc Steven Taylor in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

They named him Cavell Steven Taylor Carpenter. Cavell was Mary's first-born and Marc's only son. Cavell became a member of First Baptist Church of Red Bird, under Pastor David E. Tottress. He loved to sing gospel music and pretend he was in a group. As a little boy, he would get his Uncle Walter, and he would start a beat with his mouth, and the two would sing gospel. He always had this big grin on his face as if he was up to something.

He attended Porter Consolidated Schools and graduated at the age of 19. He had several occupations, such as machinist, material handler, and even inventory at St. John's. He could do any job he put his mind to. His love for music kept going, and Cavell and a group of friends and family started free-styling. It was a joy watching the young men quote lyrics from the heart.

He loved his family and always wanted to be around them. He was loved by most as a young man. At the age of 18, he became a father to his first-born, Brianna Carpenter (Shontae Scarborough). Five years later, he met Shantell Montanez, and they became an item. His second child was born, Liliannah Simone Carpenter. He enjoyed the times he spent with his daughter. Just being with family meant the world to Cavell. His hobbies were driving old cars and fishing. In February 2020, his third child was born, Lashay Brown (Shandell Brown). He always talked about the Lord and how he knew the Lord had a different plan in store for him.

Cavell was called home at the early age of 32, to be in God's Army as one of his soldiers.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Cornelius Carpenter, and grandparents, Gene and Lonzo Taylor.

Cavell leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Mary Carpenter Menefee (Frank), of Broken Arrow; father, Marc Steven Taylor, of Muskogee; grandmother, Lessie B. Dansberry, of Red Bird; five sisters, Sheuria Taylor of Eufaula, Angela Taylor of Las Vegas, Keelia Menefee (Wes) of Broken Arrow, Corrin Buchanan of Tulsa, and Zharyah Taylor of Muskogee; one brother, Joseph R. Herron, Jr. (Brittany), of Coweta; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

"Keep smiling, young man, and looking down on us from above. Cavell, we will love, cherish, and protect your babies always. Always know you are and forever will be loved."

Service arrangements are pending in the Muskogee Chapel.
