Mr. Charles "C.B." Montgomery, after "Fourscore Years" surrendered his soul to Jesus on Tuesday morning, September 7, 2010 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. C.B. was born in Okmulgee on September 3, 1930, the son of Jeremiah and Valaria [Fladger] Montgomery.
He grew up in Okmulgee, attending Okmulgee Public Schools, graduating from Historic Dunbar High School with the Class of 1952.
He received Christ as a child and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful servant for over 35 years. He served the Lord in many capacities, including Pastor's Aid committee, Brotherhood President, the National Baptist Convention and American Racing Pigeon Union, Inc.
Mr. Montgomery served his country honorably in the United States Army and worked for General Manufacturing for 31 years before his retirement in 2004. He married Marie Thierry on August 9, 1960 and their love was blessed with 4 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Darlene Montgomery and his brothers, Edgar, Samuel and Parnell Montgomery.
C.B. leaves in God's care; his devoted wife, Marie Montgomery, of the home; his children, Paul Montgomery, Ronald Richardson and Jeffrey [Leola] Rice, Janice Montgomery, Shelly Montgomery, Toretta Rice, Jennifer Rice and Brenda McCrary; his sisters, Rosa Lee Atkinson and Jerry Lee Ousley; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The Service of Memory for Mr. Montgomery will commence on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church. Reverend Judson Fields, Pastor, will Preside. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Grayson, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Okmulgee County [colored hospital] Multi-cultural Heritage Association, Inc. or the Dunbar All School Association.
