Mr. Charles D. Gladney, Sr., a resident of Muskogee, was beckoned by the Master on Saturday afternoon, December 5, 2015 from Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Charles D. Gladney, Sr. was born on July 5, 1939 to the parents of Ruffin and Callie Gladney in the rural community of Boynton, Ok. He was the fifth of seven children.
Charles attended school in Taft, Oklahoma and graduated from Moton High School in 1958. He met the love of his life, Barbara Jo Hill in 1958 and they were married in 1960. They created a loving home in rural Muskogee county. Charles worked at Acme Engineering for 37 years before retiring and he employed many friends and family from the community during his tenure.
Charles was a dedicated family man, hard worker and well respected in the community. He cherished his wife and children. His favorite activity was spending time with his beautiful wife and family. Many recall fond memories shared with Charles over the years and he will be remembered as a pillar of the community and a person of high morals and values, strong commitment and straight talk.
Charles was a faithful servant of God. He served as a trustee and deacon at The Wilson Chapel Baptist church for many years prior to relocating to Muskogee. He became a member of the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a faithful deacon.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents and siblings, Corinzo Smith, James Gladney, Fannie Gladney and Elbie Riley.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 54 loving years, Barbara Jo Gladney, children Charles D. Gladney, Jr (Hope) and Randy Gladney; brothers Don Gladney (Dorothy), Raymond Gladney (Janice); grandchildren, Jordan Gladney, Bria Gladney, Jaslynne Gladney, Randy Gladney, Jr & Alexia Gladney; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Tribute to Mr. Gladney will commence on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Christ Kingdom Builders Church, Reverend Ron Venters, Sr., will officiate and his Pastor, Reverend Vanzelen G. Brown, Sr., Pastor of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church will give the Eulogy.
You may visit Deacon Gladney, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home in Muskogee on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Friends may share memories at his Wake, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
The Christian Committal will follow the funeral ceremony in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee.
